Greetings and welcome to the Swansea Police
Department Web Site. My name is George Arruda and I am the Chief of Police. The
Swansea Police Department is comprised of 31 highly trained sworn officers and 6
civilian support staff. I am proud to be part of a professional law enforcement
organization that consists of dedicated, committed, and honest Police Officers.
We are privileged and humbled to protect and serve the citizens of the Town of
Swansea.
In these pages, you will learn of the many services and programs that the
Swansea Police Department provide. All of our resources are aimed at just one
goal: Making the Town of Swansea a better and safer place for all of the people
who live, work, or visit. The Swansea Police Officers are problem solvers, a
force that works with citizens, businesses, the media and other public agencies
to improve the quality of life in Swansea.
Thank you, and enjoy your visit to our Web
Site.
Swansea Police
Department makes crash reports available online
Swansea Police Department, Swansea MA,
is digitizing its crash reports through a
partnership with the Carfax Police Crash Assistance Program. The reports are
stored electronically in a secure database and available for purchase online at
www.crashdocs.org/ma-swanseapd
Filing electronic crash reports reduces overhead costs
for the department. Police departments spend an average of $35,000 a year to
manually reproduce accident reports. The new system virtually eliminates this
cost as well as the administrative staff time spent fulfilling each request.
Just as important, public access to crash reports is now more
efficient. Reports needed by involved parties, insurance companies, and other
members of the public are now easily obtained online within minutes.
Working with Carfax Police Crash Assistance, the Swansea PD is better serving
our community.
