
POLICE ACCREDITATION ASSESSMENT TEAM INVITES PUBLIC COMMENT
Chief George Arruda is pleased to announce the a team of assessors from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission will be examining various aspects of the Swansea Police Department's policies and procedures, operations and facilities on Monday October 26, 2009 and Tuesday October 27, 2009.
Verification by the assessment team that the Swansea Police
Department meets the Commission's sate-of-the-art standards is part of a
voluntary process to gain state accreditation - a highly prized recognition
of law enforcement professional excellence.
The accreditation process consists of 252 mandatory
standards as well as 121 optional standards. In order to achieve state
accreditation, the department must be in compliance with all applicable
mandatory standards as well as 60% of the optional standards.
As part of the on-site assessment process, members of the
department and the community are invited to officer comments about the
department as they pertain to complying with accreditation standards.
Written comments may be forwarded to the Massachusetts Police Accreditation
Commission, 9 Bartlet St. #356 Andover, MA 01810 on or before November 1,
2009.
